From the people who brought you TMX Elmo and Tickle Me Extreme Elmo comes a new Elmo on the scene, Elmo Live! This little guy is going to blow them all away. He talks with his mouth opening and closing just like the real muppets on the show. He sits. He stands. Waves his arms and even crosses his legs. And as he speaks, his head will bob back and forth. If you can believe it, he tells jokes and stories, plays games and sings. All the child has to do to activate him is to tickle him or squeeze his nose, toe, back or stomach. This is really a great toy that is really hot for this season. New in October, he will not last long.
Recommended for ages 3 years and up. Requires 6 AA batteries which appear to be included. Measures 12 inches tall.

A flip and play table makes it all the more fun since it’s new every day. With this table, the child can play on one side and have loads of fun. Then the next day, flip it and it’s a whole new world. The table stands 13 inches up, perfect for a young person who is just learning to stand or just did learn to stand. There is a lever that activates an attached train that goes in a circle. And a button next to the lever activates a train sound. There are three each of letters and numbers to insert, a flipbook of circus animals, a clock with hands that spin, a mobile of spinning balls and a miniature rotary phone.
When the child tires of that side, just flip it over and the fun begins again with building blocks of squares, rectangles, pyramids, circles plus cat and dog heads too. All of this is included in the set. That really isn’t all. You can also add to this table of fun with other accessories which are available separately. Right before you open the case with the new table inside, just grab a cup of coffee from your new capresso machine because you owed yourself the indulgence! Then make a kid happy with this very nice table of activities to keep a young mind busy for quite a while.
Recommended for ages 1 year and up. 2 AA batteries are required which are included in the set.

Remember that commercial? Well, you would have to be old enough to have kids in their 30s if you saw the first ads. But they are one of those pre-schooler and very young school kid toys that is timeless. Although they are no longer on the market in their original form in toy stores and discount stores, they are still available and memorable. I like where these toys originated since they came from a television show that had been around since the 50s, Romper Room. Hasbro bought the television show back in 1969 and got the idea for Weebles from the bop-punching bag on the show. Weebles came on the market in 1970. Kids had hours and hours of fun with them. My daughter sure did love them.
Originally, they were made short and round with peelable stickers that wore off quickly but the fun remained. The original family comprised of father, mother, brother, sister and baby. After the tree house and cottage were introduced they became much more popular. Other accessories including vehicles were quickly following. After a time, Disney also produced character Weebles sets like the Magic Kingdom, Winnie the Pooh treehouse and cottage sets, Winnie the Pooh circus, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse set and many more characters.
In 1978, a new set of Weebles came into being called the Tumblin’ Weebles. While the other Weebles had a fixed weight in their bottoms, this type had a free motion weight thus making it easy for them to tumble when the child tipped them. Sets came out with them as well. In the 80s, they came out with Sesame Street characters Bert, Ernie, Cookie Monster and, of course, Big Bird. A Sesame Street playground was available then too.
Weebles are still available through the Playschool brand at Hasbro though not in their original form. They are recommended for ages 3 and up (preschool).

I took note of this particular toy because my sister was looking for a similar product that she remembered from long ago. She thought that Tupperware put it out. It was plastic, a several sided ball with holes in it and had shapes of plastic that would fit into the ball. It taught hand/eye coordination, matching, shape recognition. She has a baby she is raising and wanted to find just the same type of toy for her very young granddaughter.
This wooden toy, a Shape-sorting Cube, is not quite the same but has the same general idea for babies learning that hand/eye coordination. Shape-sorting cube has all the shapes of the wooden pieces. The child must match the shaped piece to the wooden cube’s shaped holes in the block. It also gives the child shape recognition, matching skills and dexterity. The toy has 12 pieces and gives a clunk when the child gets the shape into the correct spot. They can open the lid and retrieve the shapes to do it all over again. Fun for your toddler. Very sturdy toy.
Recommended for ages 18 months to 3 years old.
