I am thoroughly impressed with what is coming out for the Wii this year and last year. Sometimes these places make you feel hooked on the console and then just let it ride for a while. Not the makers of Wii. This is an affordable stocking stuffer that rocks for those who love Super Mario and who doesn’t. You can explore planets, run and jump and battle enemies all at once. Mario is going all over the universe trying to bend the rules of gravity and he appears to be making it work. This could make you a tad dizzy when the perspective shifts and you are looking at things upside down. While you happen to be doing that, you might want to think about getting going on the roof cleaning just in case “you know who” shows up. He might not stop with a nasty, dirty roof.

Can you float in a bubble over a poisonous swamp? Ride a sunbeam? Mario runs to save Princess Peach from the dastardly Bowser and his legions who attack the Mushroom Kingdom with asteroids looking to kidnap the Princess. It crystallizes the Toads. Bowser brings on a massive spaceship, removes the whole castle and hits Mario with a huge magical attack. What now? Mario ends up on the moon! How can he save the princess? Super Mario Galaxy for Wii.

Recommended for all ages. Needs console, Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers. Two players.

Hasbro came out with a new game set just last month called Family Game Night. This is a list of the great games that have been around for lots of years because everyone still likes to play them. And on Wii, it would be even better. Imagine playing Connect Four, Reverse Yatzee, Boggle Portal Cubes and Battleship Barrage. Host a party and have these games right there with Mr. Potato Head as the star. Did I mention that it also has Sorry! and the all new Sorry Sliders? Absolutely. Hasbro Family Game Night made especially for Wii.

Recommended for all ages. Fun in a box.

We are heading into the times when toys and games, game consoles and other goodies will be out of stock in the stores and online. I took a good look at my toy list and found that most of the hottest toys are already out of stock in many places. That does not bode well if you intend to wait until next month or if you are one of those last minute shoppers. Last minute shoppers often lose out on the best deals and the greatest toys because they put this all off until one too many minutes have past them by. Folks, this is like trying to find a hotel in las vegas when the convention is in town. You can’t do it! Isn’t it about time to wake up and smell the coffee? Do the research, get online, take a look what is out there and go for it now while there are some options available.

I have told you about some really awesome toys and games, consoles and others. For instance, the Wii console is out of stock in several locations. That was to be expected. The Wii Fit is also out of stock. Some of the toddler riding toys are gone because they are a hot item this year. Elmo Live is still available. If the names Fisher Price or Playskool are on the toy, they are getting depleted quickly. Fisher-Price Ready for School Learning Center is almost gone for now. U Command Wall-E and Hasbro Nerf N’ Strike Vulcan are both out of stock in most places right now. If the toy is interactive with the child, it is likely to be very popular and out of stock.

The Christmas buying season has begun. It’s getting earlier and earlier every year. I remember a time when no one set up Christmas decorations until two or three weeks before Christmas. Then it went to right after Thanksgiving, then right before. It has gone back to before the October day that I do not celebrate and soon it will be backed up to September. So, toys are getting sold quickly now. If you think that the last minute will work now, it is likely to be a madhouse and worse this year. Take a deep breath, make out your list and check the listings in the paper and online…and then GRAB IT because if it’s a hot toy, you will not see it in a couple of weeks. Happy Shopping.

Guitar Hero World Tour for Wii is yet another hot item this year. Yes, there are a number of them. Good idea though. If there were just one hot item, there wouldn’t be any available. With a number of them, at least you have a chance to beat the crowd to the spot where they have those few left. And that is the scenario of you wait on this item until later. It is currently available but is out of stock in at least one online location right now. This is a battle of the bands game that is going to rock the house. With this, there are wireless instruments. You can create your own songs through the Music Studio. Be a song writer.

Create your own band with one instrument or many. Up to four players can have a great jam session together or go through a career. Never play solo again. Online capable so that you can have up to 8 band members with you. Virtual members can make worldwide connections. Get into Mii Freestyle mode which is only on Wii. You can create Rock, Metal and Blues by yourself or hook up with others and jam the night away with original music. There are over 85 tracks included with this system.

And frankly, there is so much to this outfit that I cannot possibly tell it all right here. The one thing I am sure of is that if you do not have self defense products with you when you go to a store to buy this, it may be very difficult. No, I’m just kidding. But the reality is that this is likely to be in limited supply due to the Christmas season about to be upon us. This is a major title.

This whole thing includes: wireless guitar controller, wireless drum controller and microphone with 15 ft. USB cable.

I have already talked to you about the Wii and the Playstation 3. Now it’s time to give a heads up on the Microsoft Xbox 360. According to the description, this console is a much smaller one than the previous console. I will be totally honest with you here. I don’t understand some of the features on this particular item. Most of it has to do with the capabilities due to the high end CPU, the graphics, the ATI processor and much more. It supports HDTV but works great with standard televisions as well. You can have high def video, DVDs play, music, photos and connections to the internet.

It also has a 12x dual-layer DVD-ROM drive that plays the movies and games as soon as you set it up. When you are ready to save your game, you can choose between the 60GB hard drive that comes with it or a 64 MG flash memory unit that is sold separately. Xbox also gives you XBox live which is a silver membership online.

Included in the box are: the Xbox 360 console, a detachable hard drive (60GB), a wireless controller, Xbox live headset, a standard AV cable, the ethernet cable, a detachable faceplate, Xbox live silver membership. My only recommendation here is that you can get this console in a number of hard drive sizes. I think I would get the most for my money. The one with a 20GB hard drive is somewhat cheaper but the hard drive space is so limited.

When you’re searching for good toys especially for Christmas since we are getting into that season, I recommend visiting the websites of the manufacturers and hot toy sellers just to see what the hot deals are. Sometimes, the hottest toys are not the best values. In our family, we must watch for those toys made in China. It’s very hard to find out what is and is not made there. For instance, I had no idea that the Nerf blasters were coming from China until yesterday when I noticed the recall.

You will want to find all sources of where they were manufactured, something that is not always shown on the info pages of the descriptions. I try to give you all the information that is pertinent for each item. Not all information is available though. Research is the key. In my case, I will not be as able as you are to search out information on the individual toys like you can since you are buying for a limited number of children.

The manufacturers sometimes have a specials of the week page. So do the major toy sellers. That can give you both the best deals and the hottest toys available. And speaking of availability, you might want to start buying now those toys or games that are hot right now. For instance, get the Wii while you can. It will be impossible to find them in December. Just a thought. Any hot toys and games will be scarce by the end of November or early in December. Some are already scarce so if you find what you are looking for, do not hesitate or it will be lost to you.

Remember, the key to getting the best toys available for the best prices is RESEARCH! (I heard that! Yes, it may sound like an extremely DUH statement but some people are brand new to searching out the best toy deals.)

Our family just loves The Chronicles of Narnia with all the talking animals, the “not a tame” Lion, Aslan, and the four children that go through the wardrobe into a new land. This game is only for the Wii console. In this game, you can take on the role of any of the 20 characters including Narnians (non-human). You can go to the locations that are in the movie. The time is one year after the original trip into Narnia for the Pevensies but 1,300 yeas have elapsed in Narnia. It is a time of hardship and hiding for the Narnians when Prince Caspian finds the kids. The land is savage and evil rules in the form of the tyrant Miraz.

Two players can co-operate in this game to team up. You may also team up with characters to combine abilities. This is a combo of action combat and puzzle solving game play. Recommended for ages 13 and up.

Nintendo’s Wii has taken the toy world and adults by storm. This is a hot item for all ages. Wii console and games are great for all the family. It does not matter if you are an expert gamer or a child learning how to play baseball for the first time. This game console has it for you. In the standard games DVD, you get baseball, tennis, bowling, boxing and golf. The game has a sensor bar that allows the person to follow through on the actions of the current game. Fun for the whole family.

It is a bit hard to find at times and will be especially hard to find around Christmas. So, if you were thinking of buying for Christmas, I suggest now is as good a time as any. While it is also a bit high on price for a person like myself who is a comparison shopper, you will find it where you can find it. It appears to always be in limited supply. Perhaps next year when most people who wanted one have theirs, then it may be a lot more accessible. There are a large assortment of Wii games that will fit the console when you are ready to go forth and conquer.
